If you are an employer or a person in control of premises you have a legal duty to report accidents which fall within certain criteria.  You should consult the guidance if the injured party is admitted to hospital overnight, suffers an injury which requires more than 3 days absence from work or is a major specified injury, i.e. a broken arm, leg, wrist or ankle.

Even if an accident does not immediately fall into a category which requires a formal report to be made of the incident in the companies accident book.  It is particularly important to record information in these circumstances should an injury manifest itself at a later date which results in a civil claim for compensation.
